What you’ll do
Join us for a performance-based workshop exploring love and devotion, and how they shape ideas about health and wellbeing.
We’ll be sharing poetry and writing by mystics, artists and lyricists from a range of cultures and time periods – from medieval India and ancient China to the West, as well as more contemporary voices.
Guided by our facilitators, you’ll step into these perspectives by reading their words and bringing them to life using movement, performance or acting. Afterwards, we’ll explore what it means to embody these ideas and feelings, and reflect on how love and devotion intersect with agency, hope and healing.
This event is aimed at people aged 16 and over. No experience is needed. We recommend you wear clothing and footwear that you’re comfortable to move in.
If you want a break from the activities at any point, you can head to our Chill-Out Room to lie down or relax.
There will be an optional script read-through at 13:30 for anyone who wishes to hear the content before the workshop starts. If you don’t need to hear the script ahead of time, you can turn up at 14:00, when the workshop will begin.
We can also send you an audio recording of the script before the event. If you’d like this, please email info@wellcomecollection.org.
